My submission to the UDK on Tuesday, 5/5, did not seem to make it into the 5/6 paper. I turned everything in on time, but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that they had just not seen it on the inbox or something. The next day, my comic still did not appear in the paper. It was then that I realized that I had been censored for the very first time. I have made jokes about infanticide, I have used dirty words, I have talked about incest and the KKK; all of these comics got into the UDK. But one little doodle of a penis on a character's face and suddenly Working Title is "unprintable." I would understand if the content of the joke itself were taboo, but the art? Is one tiny dick drawing too much for the college audience, while all of my other, more inflammatory, humor is completely fine? Oh UDK, I wish you'd get your priorities straight. Either the editors didn't bother to read my other comics, or they really are so dense that they can't grasp the inappropriateness of my comics unless there's a tiny dick staring them in the face. So, I guess my conclusion is "censored? about time!"
